Event and their basic categories

Event (as noun) something that happens, a planned public or social occasion
An event can be described as a planned public assembly that is organized by any individual or a group for the purpose of celebration, education, marketing or reunion. Events can be sorted on the basis of their context, size and type.
The event create when people come together for a purpose so there are many types of events but all these types come under some defined categories. These defined categories are –

  1. Private
  2. Corporate
  3. Charity/Fundraising

 

  1. Private Events –
    Private events bring people together and help them to celebrate a more intimate life event. Private events are used for individuals who wish to have certain guests at the venue and accept/allow guests via invite-based registration. These events are based on SOPs i.e Special Occasion Permits, which means SOPs are for occasional and special events where only family, relatives, friends and hosts, or permit holders are invited to attend. Private Events cannot be made open to the public and be advertised. Information about the event is shared only with invited guests. Private Events are personal and do not come under corporate events and purpose that’s why cannot be used to facilitate the operation of an ongoing business therefore these parties/events cannot be conducted with the intention of making a profit.

Guests for private events are selected after discussion, planning, and invited through a proper guest list as the venue is not open to the public.

  1. Corporate Events –
    A corporate event is an event organized by a company to engage with employees, stakeholders and customers to build relations and strengthen up the clientele.

These events are organized or funded by a business entity and their audience depends on the goal and motive of the event. There can be many reasons for organizing these types of corporate events, they may want to –

  • Reward to the best employee
  • Educate all the staff with new techniques
  • Organization need motivation for more quality work
  • To celebrate all the success
  • Time to mark key milestone

  1. Charity/Fundraising –
    A charity event can conduct with two purposes:
    – To raise awareness for a specific cause
    – Raise moneyThe charity events industry is not round around some specific person, groups, companies, it can be organized by individuals, sponsors, some groups of societies, charities organizations. These events are come under very diverse industry due to any one can go to a charity venue without any invitation, contribute to a charity event according to their will.
